Canelo Alvarez vs. Amir Khan for WBC middleweight title

Canelo Alvarez vs Amir Khan

Shamsu.id - If the challenger Amir Khan can get a win against middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez on Saturday night, it could be a possibility could be classed as one of the biggest upsets of boxing since childhood, but Manny Pacquiao sent Oscar De La Hoya retired in 2008.

Trying to find one who has chosen Khan won in the inaugural match boxing card at the new T-Mobile Arena is like trying to find the right contact lens in the middle of the football field. Almost impossible, unless you want a writer from Britain, and then Khan, from Bolton, England, gets some love. UK writer loyal to fellow country, for one mistake.

That's not to say this is not going to be watched, exciting battles either long as it lasts (HBO Pay-Per-, 21:00 ET). Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) is a very skilled boxer with some of the fastest hands in the sport movement. He has faced several top-tier fighters in his career, and rarely, if ever, changes in performance that is not feasible or CSI Miami.

The same thing can be said about Canelo. Red-headed superstar Mexico (46-1-1, 32 KOs) has lost only to Floyd Mayweather, highly skilled boxer of this era, which he fought at the age of 22. Khan experienced likes to say he has the edge in experience, and including a career amateur he may be right. But Canelo, who made his professional debut at age 15, has been pounded 323 rounds as a pro to Khan 203.
The second body posture fighter

De La Hoya, CEO and founder of Golden Boy Promotions, which handles Canelo, says his fighter is "100 times better" than he was when he fought Mayweather in 2013 and lost by majority decision.

Khan said he did not take this fight despair, which many thought after he chased Mayweather and Pacquiao around for the last 18 months or so trying to desire against one of them. When it never materialized, he considers everything and came to the conclusion that he could already beat Canelo.

"I always wanted to be in a big fight, but if it is against someone who is too heavy and invincible, then it will be a problem," said Khan this week. "But I sat down and saw several fights of Canelo and thought," You know, this guy is beatable. The last man to beat him is Mayweather, who outboxed him and beat him.

"He had a fight very hard against (Erislandy) Lara, and Austin Trout, and boxers that will either give him a big issue, and I think I'm a boxer who either could give the problem. So it makes sense for where it was a big fight but I could win the fight for the world title. "

Both fighters weighed in Friday at 155 pounds, catch weight for this fight. But during the fight on Saturday, Canelo is expected to weigh 10 pounds more than Khan.

"I have to take full advantage of all the benefits and virtues of me, so I'll take advantage of it," said Canelo about the size difference. "If the knockout comes, But I will not go in there thinking knockout because it does not come out the same way when you focus on looking for the knockout."

This fight has been referred to as belonging to Khan speed versus strength Canelo belongs to this. But Mexico says there is more to the game than just power.

"I do not go in there thinking about power. Everybody thinks, until they get in the ring, that was just about power," said Canelo this week. "I will show you more than power, because there is more to me than just power. When (Khan) steps into the ring on Saturday, he'll know, and you all will see."

According to CompuBox statistics, Khan has an average of nearly 13 total punches thrown per round over Canelo fights (55.1 to 42.2) and power punches (28.0 to 24.1), but Canelo has been more accurate, connect from 11.4 power punches per round (47.3%) to Khan 12.4 (44.3%).

How I see it, the only hope Khan wins, in my opinion, is to avoid the big punch and fight Canelo distance, as Mayweather and Lara and Trout did, outboxing and expose his opponent's leg Canelo slower. Canelo has been known to tire in the later rounds, but he seems to be in good shape for this fight. He stayed with it against Miguel Cotto, but Cotto is 10 years older.

Canelo is a pressure fighter and will put pressure on Khan from the opening bell. Canelo also great counter-puncher and Khan admitted this week that the shot that put him down in the past were almost always counterpunches. He also admitted that he did not think he could hurt Canelo, although I'm not sure I believe that it can.

Khan will look better in the beginning, using quick hands and feet to move and avoid the big blow while outworking Canelo, using his jab to keep Canelo at bay. But Khan is a fighter and likes to fight. He likes to exchange. He's not a runner. At some point he will be sucked into a fight with Canelo, and which will ultimately be its downfall. I believe the big shots will occur sometime in the sixth round, and Canelo will win by force and retain his belt. Then the conversation would soon turn to Triple G.
